Over the past twelve months Market Drayton, a market town in North Shropshire, has been consulting with its residents and its wider community on the future development of the town.
With the assistance of Data Orchard it has developed a Neighbourhood Plan with a strong focus on health and wellbeing, facilitated by plans to improve its leisure, recreation, tourism and retail offering.
Data Orchard has assisted the Town each step of the way. This included a series of questionnaires to residents in and around the town, young people and the business community. We also arranged public exhibitions to feed back the results from the surveys and to outline what we thought could be done to deliver on their expressed needs and aspirations.
Key proposals resulting from the consultations are to create a canal marina with retail facilities and leisure accommodation, completely new and enhanced sports and recreation facilities at new sites, and enhanced green spaces, including a new ecological corridor through an old railway cutting.
The plans will help to revitalise the town and surrounding area, and along with proposals for new commercial sites will boost the town’s retail sector and bring much needed new employment to the area.
The plan is currently out for formal consultation, and residents are able to make their comments via our on-line survey facility, as well as via more traditional paper returns.
Market Drayton’s Neighbourhood Plan is one of forty plans that Data Orchard have assisted with in the West Midlands.
